We all have regrets, but some are worse than others. We all wish that we could go back in time to do something different or better. How do I know this? I know this is true because I have those regrets. The main one I remember was when I had to walk home from school in September 2012.
It was a normal day and school had gotten out and my brother and I had to walk home from school that day. We always walked home with one of our friends, but after school my brother found a ride with a friend so he asked if I wanted one too. My regret was that I accepted the ride. The next day our friend texted us and told us what happened. On the way home from school she was bullied. She said that people had thrown rocks at her while she was walking and she didn't get a good look at them. I should've been there walking with her, but I chose the easy way home.
The only thing we can think in a situation like that is: "why didn't I take the other way?" These are the thoughts that haunt us everyday. We take the path that is easier, but a lot of times the easy path causes others to be hurt. Sometimes doing the hard thing is the better thing to do. You can keep people safe by doing the harder thing. You can keep your conscious clear by doing the hard thing. Sometimes doing the hard thing is what can bring you happiness and joy. Just know that you always have a choice to take the wide and short road or the long and hard road.
